Good For The Soul | The Ordinary Moments

Today was one of those days which was good for the soul, and it was just perfect to share with you today on the Ordinary Moments. The past few weeks have been shrouded in cold, wet, lacklustre weather and frankly sometimes the thought of getting both the children dressed, battling them to get their shoes on and into it is too much effort to bear. But I had made a plan to meet with a friend of mine at our local National Trust, The Vyne, and it just so happened to be a beautiful crisp sunny morning when we woke up.

Hayley and I both have 2 boys, sadly her eldest little boy was at school. They’re all similar in age and we know how good it is to get them outdoors to run free. When friends with young babies suggest meeting at coffee shops I have to say the thought fills me with dread. It’s all fun until your baby gets on the move, then you soon realise the days spent chatting in Costa are over and you need to get a new plan when it comes to entertaining your children. Especially, in my experience, boys!

It’s definitely something which comes with age I think, appreciating nature. For me certainly. Being outside in beautiful surroundings really uplifts me, especially when the sun is shining, and I love watching the boys as they run around freely. The Vyne Estate is our local National Trust and it’s maintained beautifully. On this day the landscapers were eagerly tending to the beds, tidying away the damage winter had bestowed on nature. I love seeing the spring shoots sprouting up from the cold, dark soil, they always bring a smile to my face. Something about the anticipation of all the new bright colours coming to life and a happy summer ahead of us.

The boys happily splashed in muddy puddles and looked so sweet holding hands walking around the grounds. Little George’s legs were just a little bit too tired to carry him all the way around, but he loved watching the bigger boys getting up to mischief, covered in mud.

I love this photo Hayley took of the boys, they are just so happy in nature, splashing around in muddy puddles and enjoying the freedom of outdoors. The boys played so nicely together it was so sweet to watch.
