Middle Trimester Update; Pregnancy weeks 13-28

So I am super excited today because I am finally 28 weeks pregnant…I am in my final trimester, whoopee!! I wanted to bring you an update for my middle trimester to show you what’s been happening and what I’ve been using to get me through the last 13 weeks of pregnancy. I have also filmed a quick YouTube video to go along with this, which is available on my channel, which I will link at the end for you.

Unfortunately I have been suffering hugely with my ribcage again – exactly the same as with Henry – from 22 weeks I have had such pain on my right side which eventually goes through to the back, being at work is agony as it’s worse there so hopefully a new chair may help my position…roll on mat leave! I have been seeing a fab chiropractor who has been helping me but it appears no relief is permanent unfortunately. This week he’s been trying out sports tape and more acupuncture to ease the pain. I would definitely recommend seeing someone if you’re suffering with back or rib pain in pregnancy as they could be able to help!

A good look right??

Sleep is not too bad at the moment, I have a pillow for comfort but that doesn’t help with the random insomnia throughout the night. Luckily Henry has been sleeping until a bit later in the morning recently until around 7.15am, so we can get up and ready for work before he wakes up then it’s not such a mad rush to leave the house for work – well that is if we manage to get little shoes, coat and hat on without any fuss of course!!

I dread to think what my weight gain has been. I don’t really weigh myself and haven’t had a midwife appointment since 16 weeks so when I go in next week for my 28 week check I will ask them then but it might be worth just not knowing to save myself from the pain!

The only real cravings I seem to be getting are sparkling water, which I drink every day, and chocolate – lots of it! It’s been causing a problem with my skin giving me breakouts so I have been trying not to eat too much of it but goddammit I’m pushing through regardless! I still love anything acidic, so lemon, lime, vinegar…especially in sparkling water – maybe not the vinegar!

Thai curry with lots of lime!

I’ve been getting a lot more movement recently. Early on the baby was really quiet, especially compared to Henry, but they seem to be in a position which is just right for kicking me right in the middle of the stomach all the time at the moment! All very nice feeling really – until the night time when they decide to have a little party in there and keep me awake.

Braxton Hicks have subsided a bit recently but around 24/25 weeks I was having so many and they were really taking my breath away. They squeeze my stomach in tight and draw up through my chest and my tummy goes really hard and tight then it releases after a minute or so. One day I was getting them all day long, not enjoyable!!

So there’s a quick round up of my middle trimester, this week’s video can be found below if you want to hear more!

The second trimester of your pregnancy is from week 13 to week 28 – roughly months four, five and six.

Sorry to hear about your ribcage and the tummy parties in the night! At least there is lots of movement so you know things are ok with baby. Have you heard of the pregnancy wear brand My Tummy? They were recommended to me by a friend and they have some really unique designs. I especially like the tops that can double for maternity and breastfeeding, and this maternity dress in particular as its something I’d buy normally! Do let me know if you check them out, I’d love to hear your opinion x

Lovely update – glad the Braxton Hicks have subsided and hope the chiropractor is able to help with the back/rib pain and make it more manageable for you.
