I have always been a massive fan of Caroline Hirons and when I heard she was doing a product collaboration with the legendary brand Pixi I couldn’t have been more pleased to find out it was a double cleanse product. Caroline is the queen of the double cleanse, her trademark beauty must-do, so this was just the perfect beauty product for her first release.
If you’re reading this thinking what the F is a double cleanse when it’s at home…then let me explain, to quote Caroline herself, ‘if you’ve spent time putting it on, then take time taking it off’ ergo, it’s worth your time to present your face full of make up, or just grime, (gross) with more than just a face wipe at the end of your busy day. You need two different cleansers – something oily to attack make-up and oil from your face, and something water-based to eliminate more skin level dirt, such as sweat and environmental muck. Additionally, you don’t want to be using an expensive cleanser just to tackle the make up, leaving out the actual task of cleansing your skin.
I have filmed a video which includes a full review and live demo, which you can watch here, but I wanted to give you a quick run down of my thoughts of the Pixi double cleanse here too.
Firstly, the oily cleanser. This shiz will melt away any trace of make up on your face…in the video I had been filming all day and I had re-applied make-up about 4 times throughout the day, so it had it’s work cut out, and it slid through my face and melted off all my make-up, including my waterproof mascara, leaving my skin feeling so clean already…this is only stage one!
Now onto the creamy cleanser. What I love about this is that you can work it into the skin for a really long time without it just disappearing within a few circular motions of the face. It feels like you can really get to work with it and get your skin totally clean. I love that you don’t need to use a huge amount, just a fingernail amount will do the job. I think anyone who has it is probably having their own internal battle not to use one side up before the other! I know my balm side is going quicker than the creamy side, but that’s probably because I just love it so much on my skin.
A couple of additional features of the double cleanse which I love are that it’s not fragranced; now, I know some people really love the smell of the products they use, and sometimes that can be a selling point in itself (I love the smell of a good spa as much as the rest of you) but personally I like that it’s non-offensive…just in case they had got this part wrong (highly unlikely, I know) I also love that it’s so compact and easy for travel being a 2 in 1. Admittedly the packaging is quite bulky, but it’s definitely smaller than taking 2 sets of cleansers with you.
So here’s my face…Squeaky clean. Oh, side note…if you wanted to watch my adult acne journey video, you can do so here. Equally, how I cover it is here! Ha, not sure I can squeeze any more links into one sentence 😉
Caroline very kindly sent me a pot of my own, however I wholeheartedly enjoy using this product and I will be re-purchasing it once it runs out. I have been using it every night and my Oskia Renaissance cleanser in the morning. I hope you like this review, have you tried it?
