With much excitement we headed up to Alton Towers this week for the boy’s joint Birthday celebrations. The car was packed to the rafters with all the things we could possibly need (why is the UK weather so unpredictable?!) and the boys were full of guesses about their unknown destination for the week ahead!
We had already booked a few days holiday at Alton Towers when just a couple of days later we were asked to become Konfidence Swimologists for 2018, which was such a coincidence as we were kindly invited to go and stay at the Cbeebies Land resort on site as part of the ambassadorship – where we were already headed, it was all perfect timing and it was our mission to test out the boy’s new Konfidence swim aids as part of our ambassadorship for the year ahead. It all tied in together so nicely and it was the perfect time to put the Konfidence kit to the test next door at the Splash Landings resort pool.
After a bit of a confusing start trying to find the actual pool we arrived, and I was so amazed at how big and clean it was – the children’s eyes lit up as they saw the brightly coloured, huge structures inside the pool and all of the cool activities they could get involved in.
As you’ll know if you’ve been reading my blog Henry is learning to swim at the moment (George can also join in the same lessons now that he’s turned 3) and it was so nice to be able to put to use the skills he has learned over the past months. When we arrived it was all new to them both, so I straight away put on their Original Konfidence Swim Jackets which really helped them feel safe in the water. We used to use inflatable arm bands, but I really think that they are quite distracting and bulky on their arms which prevents them from being able to move their arms that well. George in particular is very wary of the water and hesitant to get in, he’s always had quite negative experiences around the water whenever he gets near it, so we have some work to do to build up his water confidence.
Henry however, was straight in – I absolutely love seeing his confidence bloom and his excitement when getting in the water now. He was also very nervous around the water but now gets straight in which is so nice. There was a great amount to do for all ages there (Stuart and I might have snuck off individually to test out the fast flumes!) and there were shrieks of delight from them both when it came to the giant overhead bucket tipping out every 10 minutes!
The sun was shining brightly, and the outside area looked so inviting so we headed out to investigate. It was still only 10am and it was relatively freezing compared to the warmth of the heated inside. I was so pleased the boys had on their Warma Wetsuits because it meant they could play outside without us having to worry about them getting cold. They are also covered for UPF50+ which meant we didn’t need to worry about the sun burning them. They would be perfect for holidays, but to be honest it felt like we were aboard with the sun beating down and the beautiful backdrop of the Splash Landings Hotel! I posted some stories on my Instagram and lots of people thought we were in Europe it was so sunny!
We all had such a good time and I was relaxed in the knowledge that the children were safe with their floatation vests on and warm and protected with their Warma Wetsuits. It was such a brilliant morning, I think they will be pretty disappointed when we return back to our boring old pool for lessons next week!
