5 Ways To Be Happy

With International Day Of Happiness just around the corner I thought there couldn’t be a better time to share some ideas for how I keep happy. I’m naturally a very positive person and I always strive to keep happy, but in this modern, online world it’s hard to not judge oneself on other people’s little squares and compare our lives with those that we see online. You may have seen over on my YouTube channel that I’m passionate about sharing my ideas of how to be happy and I always love hearing from other people how they stay positive and mindful in this busy life we all lead.

– Ways To Be Happy –

Live Mindfully
There is so much noise in life today, it’s hard to get a break from it. I shared my ideas for how to be mindful over on YouTube and I really enjoyed sharing all of my ideas, pop over if you want to hear this in more depth. Being more mindful allows me to be more productive and get rid of any stress I feel. I love winding down and taking in things around me that I miss because I am always so busy and preoccupied with things which mean I miss the little things in life which make me happy!

Set Goals
I always say that the only person you should compare yourself to is yourself – are you in a better place today than you were last week/month/year? Setting goals can help you to feel good about yourself once you hit them – don’t set your goals against what your peers are doing, but what you would like to achieve and make sure they are realistic yet will push yourself.

Appreciate The Little Things
It’s easy to forget about the little things which make us happy and to concentrate on the big things which are harder to come by. At the end of each day I always ask the children what’s made them most happy that day, how things have made them feel and what they would want to do more of tomorrow. It really helps us engage with one another and look back on our day in a more positive light even if nothing major has happened.

Be Kind To Your Body
I’m a keen cook and advocate for healthy eating and giving my body the nourishment to fuel it. I love sharing my recipe ideas and healthy meal plans. Our bodies are machines and just as our cars rely on petrol, our bodies need healthy food to keep going and staying energised. I’m slowly starting to get into fitness because as I get older I appreciate the need to keep my organs healthy and optimised. Eating well and exercising can boost our happy hormones levels and well being.

Do Things With A Kind Heart
My favourite life mottos are that it’s nice to be important but important to be nice, and that kindness costs nothing. I honestly believe that it’s so important for our own happiness to be kind to others. Acts of Kindness don’t need to be wildly generous, simply sending a lovely card to let someone know you’re thinking of them, or even just holding the door open for someone can make the difference to someone’s day. Remember that the smallest gesture can mean the biggest amount to someone so don’t underestimate the power of kindness!
