I am sure you will know already if you read my blog, that I have been working on a really special home office space for my work – have a look at the transformation video here if you haven’t already! No longer a nursery for my boys who now share a bedroom, I have been able to give this room a very special transformation into my home office. The main bits (the painting, furniture building etc) are done, and I now have the VERY exciting job of updating the accessories for it. I have so much to show you I am not going to fit it all into one blog post, so firstly I thought I would share some gorgeous accessories which I recently picked up at Amara – if you’ve been reading my blog you will know how much I love their homewares and accessories, so I was delighted to be working with them again to add some very special touches to my new room!
I have loved designing a space which is completely my own, so with lots of elegant features mixed with girlie touches. A lot of the focus of the room is around light and airy space, with white being the main wall colour. But I have mixed a lot of greenery into the room and I’ve been really enjoying being able to have lots of plants around the room – a novelty having not been able to feature them in the house since having inquisitive little babies crawling around! I love this hanging plant pot which is just perfect for this little guy which I picked up at a market recently.
Gold accessories bring a really stylish finish to the room, I can’t get enough of this retro design telephone – which is fully functional! The boys often sneak into the room so that they can use it and pretend to call Daddy at work!! I vividly remember using my mother’s one back in the 80’s!!
I’m a huge fan of having fresh flowers in the house at all times, it just lifts my spirits so much, every time I look at them I smile so of course having them in the office was a given. I always struggled with finding a vase to display smaller bouquets or bunches, and was thrilled when I found this perfectly proportioned vase complete with golden trim! There’s a very similar vase here, I can’t wait for tulip season now!
Being an office, it would be foolish not to have taken a look at their functional pieces, and when functionality meets style so effortlessly it was hard to resist this Kate Spade acrylic stapler! I’m forever rooting around in the understairs cupboard draws for the ghastly bright blue stapler, which I may or may not have pilfered when I left my office job, but now I have this beautiful Kate Spade one I can display it proudly on my desk and relish needing to use it for my paperwork.
Last, but by no means least, this Kate Spade fig scented candle not only smells divine, it matches the theme beautifully with this elegant and stylish golden polka dot design complete with trademark quote of “Light Up The Room”. If you know me, you will know that I adore candles and always have numerous candles burning around the house to create levels of scents for each space and this Fig smell is delicate and feminine and perfect for working amongst. It would make a perfect gift too, if I hadn’t selfishly kept it for myself!!
I’ve also loved bringing in hints of an industrial theme to the room where I can, with trestle desk and wrought metal dotted about too. I can’t wait to share more design posts with you as I add even more beautiful things to the room!
Thanks to Amara for helping me put this post together, I would love to know what your favourite item is that I’ve featured!
